The derivition is from Quach or Quackenbosch, the name being a medieval nickname surname for 'one who Quacks or Croakes', the name is recorded heraldically in the Netherlands, the Coat of Arms being, Three Silver Birds on a Green field. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of De Quack. which was dated 1680, Rotterdam, Holland. during the reign of William III, of Orange and England, 1650 - 1704. Surnames became necessary when governments introduced personal taxation. In England this was known as Poll Tax. Throughout the centuries, surnames in every country have continued to "develop" often leading to astonishing variants of the original spelling.
